Gleisbau schreitet voran - trackwork continued

Nachdem die Schwellen aus Leiterplattenmaterial eingetroffen sind konnte ich gestern ein bisschen Zeit für das Verlegen der Gleise zur Recyclinganlage und der Warehoustracks erübrigen und habe dabei dann auch gleich das alte Kraftwerk mit angeshclossen. Es sind jetzt auch alle Löcher für den Storageyard gebohrt.

After the arrival of the PCB ties I continued laying tracks to the warehouse, the old boiler house and the recycling paper track. Just an hour so only a little progress...

Gleisarbeit fortgesetzt - Trackwork continued

Mit meiner neuen Gleissäge ging das Trennen der Gleise an den Segmentübergängen recht zügig voran. Um weiterbauen zu können benötige ich leider erst noch ein paar neue Leiterplatten-Schwellen.

I'm using my new track saw now to divide the tracks on module transitions.This makes the work process much faster. To continue I have to wait for more PCB ties...

Eine erste Testfahrt mit einer Atlas MP15dc ging überraschend flüssig und zeigte nur an einem (!) Gleis an einem Segmentübergang Nachbesserungsbedarf.

The very first test ride with an Atlas MP15dc showed a very good track perfromance. There was only one module transition that needed some improvement.

 

Da ich werder eine Digitalzentrale noch einen Handregler besitzte, wurde die Jungfernfahrt mit DecoderPro3 und dem SPROG3 als Zentrale und JMRI auf meinem Galaxy S3 als Handregeler durchgeführt.

Because I don't have any DCC Hardware, I used my laptop running DecorderPro3 and a SPROG3 as my command station. I used my smartphone as a JMRI wireless throttle.

Loconet - Fascia Boards

Gestern trafen die Loconet-Platinen von HOfine ein. Also wurden die RJ12 Buchsen eingeklebt um den Fremobelastungen dauerhaft Stand halten zu können. Bei der gelegenheit habe ich auch die AmericaN-Platinen für McCloud bestückt.

Yesterday the loconet fascia boards by HOfine arrived. I glued all Sockets to the boards to make them more reliabale in the rough FREMO usage. The wider boards are for the paper mill - the squares for the saw mill.

N-Scale Golden West Service Cars

Nachdem die Wagen trocken waren, wurden sie mit glänzend lackiert damit die Decals nicht zu sehr durch ihre glänzende Oberfläche auffallen.

After the blue colour was dry I applied a glossy finish to match the cars background to the decal background.

 

Mit ruhiger Hand wurde eine erste Wagenseite mit Decals ausgestattet, es fehlen noch 4 Stk, für die ich erst eine Lupe brauche!

Spending much time and working slowly I placed the first decals on the covered hopper. On this side there are only 4 decals missing, but they are so small that I need a magnifier :)

N-Scale Burney Paper Mill first tracks on the layout

Auch wenn es nach wenig aussieht, aber die ersten drei Segmente sind fertig. Durch die Zahlreichen Segmentübergänge, zieht sich das verlegen doch sehr :( Nicht zu vergessen die diversen Stromzuführungen an den separaten Gleisen.

It took me Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening to put the Atlas Code55 tracks on the first three modules. All module track connections are done with PCB ties to have a fixed mounting point and to prevent damage while the transport to a Fremo meeting.

Golden West Service Cars - Part 1

Da mein Modellzeitraum 1990+ ist und ich mich in Kalifornien bewege dürfen ein paar Golden West Service Wagen aus dem SP rebuild&lease program nicht fehlen. Als Basis dienen eine Deluxe Innovations Woodchip Gondola und zwei Intermountain 4750cft covered hopper.

I'm modeling California in the 1990's so what about some Golden West Service Cars for my layout?

I'll need a gts100ton Woodchip Gondola (Deluxe Innovations) and two 4750 cubic ft covered hoppers (Intermountain). Let's go :)

Die Wagen erhielten einen mehrfachen weißen Anstrich, anschließen kam der dunkele Blauton.

After some layers of reefer white, as a basic coat, the cars are all airbrushed in a dark royal blue.
When the decals arrive I'll apply them and start weathering.
