Hobos for Hobo straight

Die Figuren für Hobo straight sind eingetroffen. Die Landstreicher warten schon auf den nächsten langsam fahren Local um aufzuspringen.

Landscape

Am Wochenende war der Terminplan zwar sehr voll aber es haben sich hier und dort doch 5 Minuten gefunden um ein paar Bäume zu pflanzen. Die dunkel grünen Tannen kamen leide rnicht beflockt und hatten die Anmutung eines Müllsacks. Also wurden die Bäume mit dunkel grünem woodland turf bestreut.

We had so many dates this weekend that there were only a few minutes for the layout. The pines came without any turf or comparative. They looked like small garbage bag trees so I updated them with dark green woodland science turf.

Der Weissleim war noch nicht trocken aber ein Foto musste sein :) Die Holzstämme werden noch nach links und rechts erweitert.

The white glue wasn't dry but there is always time for a photo :) I'll put some more tree logs to the left and right, but these were all I had.

Auf Hobo Straight wurden auch die ersten Bäume gepflanzt. Ich muss erst noch weitere dunkle Bäume bauen bevor es hier weitergeht.

New module Hobo Straight

So lange ich noch auf Material für BPM 2.0 warte geht die Konstruktion der Module für das Dachboden layout weiter. Nachdem Cayton jetzt einen akzeptablen Stand (für mein Können) erreicht hat sollte es mit Pondosa weitergehen. Leider war der DHL Fahrer unfähig und ich muss das Paket mit den Bäumen morgen bei der nächsten Filiale abholen. Also wurde das nächste Modul von einmal vorgezogen. Hierbei handelt es sich um ein einfaches gerades Streckenmodul mit den Maßen 30*60cm. Das Modul stellt eine einfach Waldlandschaft in Shasta County dar. Ein Gestaltungselement ist ein alter box car an dem sich Landstreicher ein camp gebaut haben.

While I'm waiting for some construction material for the second paper mill I continued working on the other modules needed for an operation seesion on my attic. After I did my best on Cayton (as good as my skills allow me) I wanted to continue with Pondosa. Too bad the DHL driver was unabled to read a sign so I have to fetch the packet with a lot of trees by myself from the next post station tomorrow. So I continued with the next module on the list named Hobo straight. The module is a simple 30*60cm box (a little bit smaller then 1foot by two) with straight track on it. The only highlite is a hobo camp.

Als erster Schritt wurden die Gleise in dunkelm Grau geairbrushed und die Postition des Camps festgelegt.

At first I used the airbrush to weather the tracks in a dark gray colour and chose a position for the Camp.  

Nachdem die Farbe getrocknet war hab ich aus Papper und Heißkleber die Grundstruktur der Hügel gebaut. Um das Höhenniveau des Camps anzugleichen wurden Stücke aus Pappe um das Camp herum aufgeklebt.

After the paint was dry I built the hills with cardboard and hot glue. Also the camp was surrounded with cardboad to offset the styrene base of the camp.

Hier eine Detailaufnahme des Hobo Camps. Dieses komplett Set habe ich über Ebay USA erworben. Die Szene sieht auch von nahem noch gut aus.

Die Hügel wurden mit einer Schicht aus Küchenrolle und auch Zeitungspapier gebaut. Ich habe eine Mischung aus Weissleim (Ponal Classic, auf keinen Fall den Wasserfesten oder extraschnellen) und Wasser im Verhältnis 30%-70% verwendet um das Papier zu verkleben.

The hills got a first surface of kitchen paper and news paper paper :) I used a mixture of white glue and water (30% to 70%) to laminate the paper.

Nachdem die Papierschicht getrocknet war kam zuerst eine Schicht auf Gipsbinden, gefolgt von leicht braun eingefärbtem Gips. Der Gips ist notwendig um die Struktur der Gipsbinden zu verdecken.

After the paper layer was dry I applied some plaster bandages. To smooth the surface I added some more plaster.

 

Wie immer folgte nach dem Trocknen dann die obligatorische braune Farbe.

As always I painted the ground in earth brown after the plaster was dry.

Als lezte Aktion des Tages wurde dann nach dem Trocken der braunen Farbe wieder mit Turf hantiert. Auf dieses Modul wurde ebenfalls the humide Mischung aus der Fremo AmericaN Norm verwendet. Ich hoffe mal bald die Bäume pflanzen zu können.

As the last work of the day I applied the woodland turf mix to the dired paint. Again I chose the humid mixture from the Fremo AmericaN standard. I hope I can plant some trees soon :)

 Hier noch einmal eine Detailaufnahme the Hobo Camps. Der Höhenunterschied ist nicht mehr zu erkennen. Die Farbe der auf der Szene verwendeten Grüntöne pass sehr gut zum Bodenbelag. Ich werde noch ein paar dunklere Büsche ergänzen.

Here's another detail shot of the hobo camp. The height difference between the camp scene and the terrain can't be seen anymore. The green colours of the bushes used in the scene matches the ground turf mix. I'll add some darker bushes to create more realism.
