After the Hamm meeting

So das Fremo Treffen in Hamm ist nach 4 Tagen zu ende gegangen. Was bleibt zu resümieren? Der Neubau der Burney Paper Mill hat sich absolut bewährt. Das Konzept mit dem Interchange in Lookout Junction hat auch sehr gut Funktioniert. Der Burney Yard zeigte sich ebenfalls von seiner guten Seite. Da ich McCloud entsorgern werde, werden die blue points nach Burney Yard übernommen. Die Weichenstellvorichtungen haben sich einfach bewährt. Shasta transit hatte zu viel Schotter auf den Gleisen und musste freigekratzt werden. Zudem fehlt eine Absturzsicherung.

Da wir in den 1950's gespielt haben, waren 95% Dampfloks auf der Strecke. Die Dampfer hatten auf Cayton Probleme mit der im Radius 50cm verbauten Bogenweiche, welche innen nur einer #5 Weiche entspricht. Durch die gegenläufigen #3.5 Y-Weichen auf Pondosa (welche #7 Weichen sntsprechen) liefen die Loks gut durch, aber die 6 Achsigen heavy weights waren zu starr. Ich werde die Module wohl nur noch bei Dieselbetrieb mitnehmen.

The 4 days in Hamm went away just too fast. If I summarize my modules in the layout the new construction of the Burney Paper Mill was a total success. No derailsments or bad turn outs. The concept with lookout junction as an interchange and the Burney yard as storage worked well. After disassembling McCloud I will mount the blue points on the yard modules. These turn out controls just work great. Shasta transit needed some scratching with a screwdriver to remove exessive ballast. Also a kind of fall protection is needed.

We played 1950's so there were about 95% steam locos (Mikados, Mountains, Pacifc, Northern, Chanllenger, Big Boy, Yellowstones and more 2-8-8-2) on the tracks. The curved turn out in Cayton (inside corresponds to a #5) was to narrow for the 2-8-2 steamers. I will you both junction modules only in diesel arrangement in the future. Some heavy weights had problems with the double #3.5 wye turn outs. So three axle truck on light passenger cars are not the best...

Cayton and Pondosa were connected by Claus sleepy curve.
